WORKING SESSION BETWEEN LA TROBE UNIVERSITY (AUSTRALIA) AND THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF SOCIO-ECONOMICS, SAIGON UNIVERSITY
On March 10, 2026, the Research Institute of Socio-Economics, Saigon University welcomed a delegation from La Trobe University (Australia) for a visit and working session.
On behalf of La Trobe University, the meeting was attended by Mr. Daryoush Milani – Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Director (Recruitment and International Operations).
Representing Saigon University, the participants included:
– Assoc. Prof. Le Minh Triet – Vice Rector of Saigon University;
– Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phan Thu Hang – Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Socio-Economics;
– Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phong – Former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and Chairman of the Institute’s Scientific Council;
– Dr. Tran The Luu – Former Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Expert of Saigon University and Member of the Institute’s Scientific Council;
– Journalist, Mr. Pham Duc Hai – Former Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Education Commission of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Expert of Saigon University and Member of the Institute’s Scientific Council;
– Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long – Director of the Technology Incubation and Innovation Center in Ho Chi Minh City, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association, and Member of the Institute’s Scientific Council;
– Mr. Le Khoa Huan – Acting Deputy Director in charge of the International Cooperation and Training Center.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for both sides to exchange information, strengthen mutual understanding, and discuss potential directions for cooperation in areas of shared interest. During the discussion, representatives of the two universities shared their respective strengths in education and scientific research, as well as their development orientations in the coming period. They also explored the possibility of implementing collaborative activities in academic research, particularly interdisciplinary studies related to socio-economic development and innovation.
The two sides further discussed the prospects of developing joint training programs, including the 2+2 program model, as well as expanding student and faculty exchange initiatives. These efforts aim to provide students and scholars from both institutions with greater access to international academic environments and opportunities to enhance their research and teaching capacities.
Through this meeting, the two universities expressed their desire to continue promoting a sustainable partnership in the coming years, contributing to stronger international academic connections, improving the quality of education and scientific research, and creating more opportunities for learning, exchange, and professional development for students and faculty members of both institutions.
